Ceci is a Scottish, self-taught artist, based in Barcelona. Her artistic roots emerged in her upbringing in the country, inspired by the human condition, nature, the stubborn & humorous Scottish mentality, & the expressive power of art when dealing with emotion. Her abstract & surrealist paintings draw from diverse influences: street art, photography, and the dynamic music and art of Africa, & South/Central America. Her creative process is spontaneous and fluid - with works created rapidly, often evolving years later. Creating with acrylics, spray paint, markers, collage & more, she aims to connect with our human experience via colour & gaze, painting emotion & human expression.
An exploration of colour & form, she paints to represent or celebrate periods of joy, as well as intense, deeply turbulent emotion. Using fiery colour & emphasising facial expression, or movement, the intention is to shed light on hidden emotions, those unspoken truths, our everyday humanity that we obscure and masks we often wear.
Her works are currently displayed in MonReal, a live music and cultural venue in the centre of Barcelona.
Additionally, selected works are shown in the art venue, Shimmy gallery, and at La Cosecha, a Latin restaurant and cafe in the heart of Raval.
Her solo show in the local brand, art & tattoo shop Good Trick, is on display until April 3rd, 2025, in C. Princep de Viana, 20, Cuitat Vella.
